OUR CHRISTIAN HERITAGE – EXTRA TOUR! The British Museum has an exhibition opening in the autumn on ‘Scythians: warriors of ancient Siberia’ which will be featuring many items of interest to us. Don’t miss this opportunity to see some of the Scythian gold pieces which are usually on display in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. The accompanying flyer gives details of the tour which has been arranged at short notice by Martin Lightfoot. Places are limited so book soon!
ADVANCE NOTICE The Federation will be celebrating its centenary on 3 July 2019 and the Summer Convention that year will be a special event to mark this notable anniversary. Members and friends are asked to look in their cupboards and lofts to see if they have any memorabilia which can be lent or given to Headquarters for display during the week. Many of us have a very long association with the Federation and it will be of great interest to see what can be found to illustrate the many years of witness which have taken place.
Put this date in your diary: 22-27 July 2019 and come to this very special time of fellowship.
SUMMER CONVENTION 2017 It was a very enjoyable and successful Summer Convention with new friends joining the ‘regulars’ throughout the week. The DVDs of the lectures are now in production and will be available from Headquarters shortly. There will be a full report in the newsletter but this is one announcement which was made and which was very encouraging to hear. Brenton Boshoff is going to be taking on the work in South Africa with the support of the Federation and there are positive signs of a fruitful work to be done there.
98th ANNUAL CONGRESS Book now to secure your place at the Annual Congress in York on 6-9 October. The theme is ‘The Faith and Deliverance’ and there will be an active programme of visits and lectures to enjoy.
COVENANT PUBLISHING Two more new books to add to your collection – one is a new edition of a classic: The Origin of the British by Major B de W Weldon, out now and the other is Secrets of the Stone of Destiny by Adrian Gilbert which has not been published in the United Kingdom until now, it will be available late September/early October. The author gave exciting new evidence at Buxton which is in the new edition.
“NATIONAL DELIVERANCES” The rally on this theme was held at Headquarters on the first weekend in June. Michael Clark opened with his lecture on deliverances in history followed by a presentation on ‘As Birds Flying’ by Martin Lightfoot after lunch. David Aimer led the Thanksgiving Prayers and the day concluded with a quiz, ‘Great Escapes’ devised and conducted by Kathleen Gage. It was a very enjoyable day of fellowship.
FUTURE EVENTS Northern Ireland meetings – there are two meetings in the autumn: Saturday 16 September and Saturday 18 November – speakers to be announced. These meetings are very well supported and there is growing interest in the message among our friends there.
FEDERATION NEWS Mr Ernest Gage retired from the Board of Management where he had served as Chairman for many years and as Deputy President. Mrs Kathleen Gage retired from the Board of Management at the same time. Their years of service were marked with the presentation of gifts at their final Board Meeting in March. Bishop John and Mrs Betty McLean retired from Emmanuel Church in Morecambe this April. The Rally will be held in the Auckland Hotel in future.
They will all be greatly missed in the roles which they have played so faithfully for so many years but it is a great pleasure to know that they will still be attending meetings, rallies and BI gatherings of all sorts and continuing to contribute to the activities of the Federation.
Mrs Heather Graham and Mr Nelson McCausland have been elected to the Board of Management which was announced at the Annual Meeting at the Summer Convention.
